Requests can be submitted by immediate arrival and according to the queue system, or an appointment can be scheduled via the e-Administration Portal, Branka Popadić, deputy head of the Administration for Administrative Affairs in the Police Administration for the City of Belgrade, told Tanjug.

At the New Belgrade Police Station, the first free appointment for submitting requests for personal documents is June 10 at 8 a.m.

"In the area of the Police Administration for the City of Belgrade, requests for personal documents can be submitted at any of the 17 police stations and 10 police outposts, regardless of which municipality they have registered residence in. With the beginning of the summer season and the use of annual vacations, the increased interest of citizens in obtaining personal documents, especially travel documents, begins," she said.

According to her, requests can be submitted by immediate arrival and according to the system of waiting in line, or an appointment can be scheduled through the e-Government Portal in eight city police stations.

"I emphasize that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is taking all measures and actions so that citizens can exercise their right to personal documents in the easiest way. For this reason, the e-scheduling system has also been improved, and citizens can choose their appointment in an interval of 60 days," said Popadić.

As she stated, the identity card is a mandatory document and all citizens of the Republic of Serbia over the age of 16 are required to have an identity card, and the request for an identity card is submitted in person and with the request, proof of payment of the prescribed fee in the amount of 1,154.80 dinars created through the e-pay portal is submitted.

"The identity card can also serve as a travel document and with the identity card you can travel to Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Albania," said Popadić.

When it comes to the request for the issuance of a passport, she said that the request must be submitted in person and that a valid ID card and proof of payment of the prescribed fee in the amount of 3,600 dinars and an old travel document should be attached to it if citizens have it.

"If the travel document is lost, citizens must immediately report it to the Department for Travel Documents in the SIV-3 building, along with paying the republican administrative fee in the amount of 1,090 dinars," said Popadić.

She explained that the request for issuing a passport for minor children is submitted by both parents, and together with the request they attach valid identity cards and proof of payment in the amount of 3,600 dinars.

"If one parent is not able to be present in person at the police station when submitting the request, it is necessary to have their consent certified by the competent authority - a notary," said Popadić.

She stressed that the consent for issuing a passport can also be given through the e-Government Portal, and in that case it is necessary for the parent who is present at the police station to submit the request for a minor child to the police officer only with the information about the number under which the consent was given.

"A travel document is issued according to the regular procedure within five to seven working days. A travel document can also be issued according to an urgent procedure, by attaching written proof of urgency or, if the citizen does not have proof of urgency, by paying a fee in the amount of 5,000 dinars prescribed by the Regulation on the types of services provided by the MIA and the amount of fees for the services provided," said Popadić.
